Bwindi impenetrable national park
In the southwestern part of Uganda, Bwindi impenetrable national park is part of Bwindi Impenetrable forest situated along the Democratic Republic of Congo border next to the Virunga national park on the edge of the Albertine rift. With a total surface area of about 321 square kilometers, the park encompasses both lowland and montane forest which are a habitat to several species including almost half of the world’s mountain gorillas, birds, some mammals, flowering plants and many others.
Rwenzori mountains national park
Protecting Uganda’s highest summit – Margherita, Rwenzori mountains national park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the south-western part of the country. The park lies along the Uganda’s border with Democratic Republic of Congo and borders DRC’s Virunga national park. Apart from the mountains, Rwenzori mountains national park is also a home to different species like forest elephant, hyrax, Rwenzori turaco and others.
Volcanoes national park
