3 days Lake Mburo safari

Tour overview

With a total surface area of 260 square kilometers, Lake Mburo national park is one of Uganda’s smallest national parks located in Nyabushozi, Kiruhura district in the western region about 240 kilometers by road west of Kampala. For the clients with few days of travel, Lake Mburo national park is one of the best options since it protects a number of attractions like wildlife, lakes and birds.

Detailed itinerary for the 3 days Lake Mburo safari

Day 1: Transfer to lake Mburo and evening cycling tour

On the first day, you will meet your guide who will brief you about the safari this 3-day Lake Mburo cycling, wildlife and boat cruise. You will be driven to Lake Mburo National Park along Kampala-Mbarara road, passing by the equator for photography and some experiments. Also, make a stop at Mpambire royal drum makers for you to see how local drums are made out of trees and animal hides and skins. Check in at your lodge, have lunch and prepare for a brief late afternoon cycling tour. The experience takes about 1hr to 2 hours time and exposes you to different wildlife like zebras, giraffes and others in the open savannah.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat excursion

After breakfast, you driver guide will drive you to the park for a game drive that gives a chance to spot several animals like; herds of buffaloes, zebras, impalas, birds and so much more without driving so much. Retire to the lodge for lunch, relaxation and then an evening boat cruise on the Lake.

After lunch and short relaxation, you will be driven to the lake to meet your captain of the day who will take you for a two-hour boat excursion. Lake Mburo boat cruise is an opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, water bird such as the African fish eagle and the rare African fin foot. Many animals such as buffaloes and antelopes gather here to drink some water so an opportunity to enjoy wildlife most especial marine animals. After your boat cruise, you will retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Cultural experience and transfer to Entebbe

After breakfast, you will meet your driver for your transfer to the nearby communities for a cultural experience. Lake Mburo national park is surrounded by different unique tribes including Banyankole Bahima people who will entertain you through dances, drama and cultural songs. After, drive back to the lodge for lunch and later check out for your transfer back to Kampala for an overnight or Entebbe airport for your departure flight.
