Detailed itinerary for 7 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Pick up from Entebbe airport, your hotel or any other agreed place in Kampala / Entebbe in the morning and drive to Lake Mburo National park, Uganda smallest wildlife park.

You will make a stopover at the equator in a place called Kayabwe and witness the experiment and take photos for remembrance. Proceed to Lake Mburo arriving mid morning. Check in to the lodge and enjoy lunch. You will conduct an evening game drive and later return to your lodge for relaxation.

Meals and Overnight: Mihingo Lodge/Rwakobo lodge/Eagles’ Nest lodge

Day 2: Game drive and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Early morning after breakfast, your driver will drive you to meet your ranger guide for a briefing on the activity before heading out for your morning game drive. During the experience, expect to see animals that you would have also seen on a game drive with exception that you will be walking. Do not forget to carry your camera in order to keep all your memories forever intact and also to ensure not to miss out a detail on your amazing trip. Depending on how long you would like this activity to last, you could also choose to conduct an optional Bush biking.

Return to the lodge for lunch and later go for a relaxing and experiential boat cruise on the lake. Return in the evening to prepare for dinner at lodge as above.

Day 3: Boat cruise, cultural experience and transfer to Mgahinga national park

After having breakfast, connect to explore the lake on a boat trip and visit some of the interesting islands. Lake Bunyonyi comprises of 29 islands especially the punishment island and the lake are the best place of relaxation. After, go for a cultural trip in the nearby communities where you will interact with the locals and also enjoy the traditional meals. Later drive back to the lodge for a checkout and embark on your journey to Mgahinga national park.

Day 4: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park

After breakfast, our driver guide will pick you from the hotel and drive you to the park offices for briefing and grouping. Each group will be led by a ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) into the forest. Golden monkey trekking involves an adventurous walk through the forests thus providing you with beautiful sights and sound of nature. The trek is also good for bird watcher because of the many bird species in the forest. Upon tracing the Golden monkeys, you will spend some good time with these cunning and beautiful primates as you take pictures with flash.

Later, return to the park offices and our driver will take you back to your lodge for lunch. After, embark on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

After an early breakfast, you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with different gorilla trails. Gorilla trekking takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During Gorilla trekking you will enjoy spectacular views of primates like L’Hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, animals like bush pigs, forest elephants, plants, bird species like strange weaver, Rwenzori batis, Chapin’s fly catcher, handsome francolin among others.

Once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, take photos and record the moments to show people back home. After the exciting moment with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer back to the lodge and later to Queen Elizabeth national park

Day 6: Game drive and boat cruise

After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive. During the game drive you will have great views of the sunrise, big four mammals which are lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, other animals like waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, views of different bird species among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will drive to the landing site near Mweya safari lodge for an incredible boat cruise along Kazinga channel which is a 40km long channel that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. During the boat trip which lasts for about 2 hours you will be able to view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view buffaloes, elephants, warthogs drinking water along the banks, view water birds like yellow billed stork, cormorants, hornbills, African skimmer, kingfishers, fish eagles among others. You will also be able to see the fishermen along the shores preparing their fishing gears for night fishing, take beautiful pictures among others. After the boat cruise you will go for an evening game drive where you will be able to view some of the animals that you missed in the morning and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Chimpanzee walking in Kalinzu and transfer back to Kampala

Arise in the morning, have breakfast and head for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park. During the experience, you will immerse in the thick forests to search for the primates, and after you have met them, spend an hour with them, take pictures and videos, enjoy how they feed their young ones, how they play among other jokes.

You will later bid farewell to the forest and head to the lodge for lunch and then meet your driver for your transfer back to Entebbe international airport or Kampala for an overnight.
